Description
Enrollment restricted to MLS and CLS students only. This course introduces MLS students to foundational concepts of the U.S. tax law. The course focuses primarily on the federal income tax, but also considers principles of relevance to other federal, state, and local tax systems. Through practical analysis of statutes, IRS guidance, and policy-oriented materials, students will gain an understanding of how taxes affect individuals, businesses, and government operations. Emphasis will be placed on practical applications for professionals who collaborate with legal and financial teams. Note: Students taking this course cannot also take STAT: Federal Income Tax (LAW*182) whether before or after taking this course.
