This course introduces students to the field of international commercial arbitration. It covers topics including: the New York Convention and the Federal Arbitration Act; the major international arbitration administering organizations (including their history, role in the international dispute resolution community, and attributes of their arbitration rules); the jurisdiction/relationship of national courts to private dispute resolution regimes; the selection of arbitrators; choice of law; the conduct of arbitration proceedings; and the judicial recognition, enforcement, and set-aside of arbitral awards.
