This course examines the prominent role that Asian Americans have played in America's legal history. Drawing on legal cases and historical sources, we will discuss the history and modern implications of topics including immigration and citizenship; discrimination and violence; internment and reparations; and education and employment. Through our discussion and analysis, we will touch upon the larger themes of racial identity, inclusion and belonging, and the law as a tool for advocacy and activism.
